An enchanting and compelling collection of 10 short stories, this book will enthrall readers with identifiable characters, wistful settings, and surprising behavior. In these stories, there are everyday people that you meet or hear about in your daily life, with their own quirks of existential angst, alluring ambitions, and deviant behavior. They are not wicked people but often exhibit socially defiant behavior in pursuit of their own survival and success. The book is an entertaining page-turner and will take you through the internal battles people undergo in contemporary India. Written in lucid, gripping and conversational style, the narrative will keep you hooked and takes you across various sub-genres of social drama ending with one offering in erotica.

Review:

Story 1: Deepa's Aunt- It is a story of an aunt who was in huge debt. It started with the relationship of the aunt with her niece. And it ended with a surprise where her niece got to read something in the newspaper. The story starts well but somehow it loses the touch in the middle and the suspense, in the end, doesn't go up to the expectations.

Story 2: It Did Not Happen One Night- The title of the book. It is a story of a guy named, Charan, who went to have sex with a prostitute. But in the hotel room, during the session, he found herself dead. He was worried and tensed, so he ran away from that hotel after keeping some money beside her. Later, he saw the same lady at the bus station but was that lady the same one he met in the hotel? Read the book to know more... It is a well-written story with twists and turns on every page. One would surely want this story not to end.

Story 4: The Sixth Sense- A story of a mother and daughter where the daughter Mercy told her mother that she saw her having sex. Carolyn, the mother of Mercy took her to doctor Wilson where she tells him that she never been with a man for 15 years. Mercy told the doctor that all her dreams come true and it would not be long before her mother would have sex. Doctor Wilson has run some tests and found that Mercy was blessed with one more sense. So what would happen next? Will she find her mother having sex or was it just a dream?
The plot of the story is great and the events in the story are also well written. But the length of the story is a little setback otherwise it is something new in the box.

Story 7: Till Death Do Us Join- A story of a banker, Pratap who saw a girl during a shoot of an ad. The girl who was acting in the ad, Arunima made the first move of talking to him. Later they both exchanged their numbers and things going on. Eventually, they both fell in love and went to their parents' to discuss their marriage. Arunima's parents' accepted them while Pratap's parents' declined. Later, Arunima found out that she has cancer and told Pratap which left him broken. What would be the last wish of Arunima? Will, they happily live after or will she die?
The story is imaginary and things like this don't happen much in real life. An actress going before a normal guy. The plot of the story could be different and I would have loved it if the author would keep it more real.

Story 10: Three Chicks and a Dude- A story of a handsome guy, Phani who was the eye candy for all the girls in his office. As the title said, the story involved three girls, Kalpana, Vanita, and Vaidehi. Vaidehi, a subordinate of Phani fell in love with him whereas Kalpana and Vanita wanted to have a taste of him. Who would succeed?
A story of love and lust. The ending chapter of the book perfectly justifies the title of the book. I think it is the longest story in the book and one of the best of all. It even justifies the genre of the book which could not be done by most of the other stories.

(Ps. These are some of the stories from the book I really liked, the rest of them is also good but for me, these are the best among all.)

Book Cover- Cover of the book is really great and it really goes with the title and stories of the novel.

Narration, Editing, and Language- All three things are very well done. And one would hardly find any mistake. Kudos to the author and the editor for the amazing job.

Title- Title of the book tells you about the genre of the book but some of the stories are not able to justify it.

Overall, it is a good read. A novel that could be completed in one goes because of the twists and turns in the chapters. Some of the stories are too good that you would not want it to end. The author could have tried to make some chapters more realistic. Congratulations to the author for coming up with the novel. Waiting to read more from him!
